Black Spectrum Theatre
Founded in 1970, Black Spectrum Theatre Company produces and presents theatre, films, and videos examining issues of concern to the African-American community, particularly African-American youth.
The Professional Theatre Company has presented over 1,000 performances of more than 60 socially relevant theatrical productions. It has garnered critical acclaim in dozens of major newspapers and media outlets, including The New York Times, Newsday, ABC TV news, and CBS TV news brought our audiences performances by internationally renowned artists Roy Ayers, Roberta Flack, Jon Lucien, Angela Bofill, Lonnie Liston Smith, Bobbi Humphrey, and Dick Gregory. In 1999, we introduced the annual Women of Color Theatre & Film Festival. |
